Making things Move

Coinciding with our open studio weekend, this fun workshop is inspired by our current exhibition ‘Javasu’ by artist Savinder Bual.

There will be 2 activities to choose from – you can do one or both.

Make your very own thaumatrope, an optical toy that was popular in the 19th century. With just paper and string you can create a low-fi animation… it’s a little bit magic. We’ll also be creating our own moving creatures on sticks, inspired by the palm-leaf toy tiger found on our travels in India! He’ll be there too…

This workshop will be led by Caraboo artists Felicia Cleveland-stevens, Phil Root and Jenny Male.

Please email us at info@carabooprojects.com with the names and ages of the children.

'Either You Meet Someone New or You Live with a Memory'

‘Either You Meet Someone New or You Live with a Memory’ will explore three different works, one that has happened, one that is happening and one that will happen and much like the texts Sarah wrote for ‘Javasu’, they live in the form of words.

Sarah Boulton’s practice follows a careful interest in the spacing, timing and conditions of experiences. Like echoes, her poetry, subtle installations and live pieces ask and also blur when and where the beginning of the artwork may be. She presents things that are
suggestions of a different part of the experience or work that she has often prior to created privately and is attracted to leaving narratives open, elsewhere and alive.

Spaces are free but limited. Booking required via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/a-happening-by-artist-sarah-boulton-tickets-58790711601
